London: Edward Arnold & Co.. Very Good Plus/Very Good Dust Jacket.. 1926. Third Impression. Hard Cover, Blue Cloth. A near fine copy, blue cloth with gilt lettering, in a RARE DUSTJACKET, which is chipped and torn at edges. A lovely copy of this scarce work, with a bookplate to inside front cover, otherwise clean and bright interior, including 17 illustrations. These include stunning black & white photographs, as well as botanical sketches, and a fold-out map at rear of the Kansu Province of China showing the route travelled by Reginald Farrer in 1914 and 1915. His adventurous journey through Western China in search of new species of Alpine plants is recounted here with particular emphasis on the life and character of the Chinese people. 383 pages, including Botanical Index. .
