Isherwood immersed himself in the study of the Vedanta Scriptures during the Second World War, and was an active member of the Society for the following 35 years, occasionally lecturing at the Hollywood and Santa Barbara temples, and following the guidance of the Hindu priest, Swami Prabhavananda, for over 30 years. Octavo. Original brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt, om symbol in blind to front board, top edge brown. With dust jacket. Photographic portrait frontispiece, 32 illustrations in the text. Negligible fading to board edges, top edge of book block sunned, light offsetting to endpapers, an excellent copy, square and bright, in the very good, slightly soiled, jacket, unclipped, small skinned patch with short closed tears to foot of front panel, nicks to foot of rear panel, small chip to head.
