The hand colored plates in this first edition are much nicer than later editions, also, most later editions had fewer plates, making this first edition much more desirable. Freeman 3044. Massachusetts Horticultural Society p. 251 had only the 3rd edition. The author was a respected writer on natural history and botany subjects. 'This is one of the most interesting books that the botanist can wish for' (The World We Live In). A picture of this book is available on request by email.
