Finland: Self-published, 1945. 1st Edition . No Binding. Fine. An attractive and early, small drypoint by Tuulikki Pietilä (1917-2009), Finland's most influential graphic artist of the 20th Century. Numbered 2/10 (lower left) and hand-signed/dated in pencil in 1945 by the artist (middle to lower right). Framed and under glass, the frame measures 24cm x 28cm approx. Image measures 5 cm x 9 cm approx. The image is titled Rampa Lapsi which means "disabled child" or similar in English. The print appears to be in VG to Fine condition, not examined under frame. There is a tiny blue mark, possibly an ink-spot, to the mat. Original backing with label to verso. The frame is a simple wooden one with a small chip right edge near top and a few other minor marks, condition commensurate with age - likely to be the original.

Descripción:
Helsinki: Schildts, 1994. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 1994, First thus, the revised, illustrated edition. When first published in 1968, Tove Jansson insisted that her first foray into adult's literature would not include illustrations of any kind - so intent was she in distancing herself from the Moomins. By 1994, however, she had mellowed somewhat, and she agreed to the inclusion of photographs from her personal family archive - as well as one of her own drawings - for this revised edition of her semi auto-biographical work, Sculptor's Daughter. The original Schildts Swedish language editions of Tove Jansson's works are always the most difficult to acquire due to their comparatively tiny print-runs. And this title is no exception. EXTREMELY hard to find and particularly in such superb condition as this copy. SIGNED copies of either edition are amongst the most elusive of all her works - they simply do not appear on the open market. You are more likely to find an original leaf from The Book… Leer más

Descripción:
Tampere, Finland: Tampere Art Museum, 1986. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Near Fine. First Printing. An incredibly rare item of Moomins memorabilia. In 1986 Tove Jansson and her life-partner, the artist Tuulikki Pietilä, donated a huge collection of Moomins-related artwork to Tampere Art Museum, Finland. The collection comprised over 1000 drawings and paintings and 38 three-dimensional tableaux. The collection was first displayed in The Moomins exhibition at Tampere Art Museum along with other original sketches and book illustrations by Jansson. The tableaux were miniature Moomin-themed dioramas crafted by Jansson, Tuulikki Pietilä and their friend, Pentti Eistola. The donation also comprised other works of art by Jansson as well as archival Moomins-related material. An exhibition catalogue was, of course, published to mark the occasion and we are pleased to be able to offer for sale a particularly significant example. Printed in the Finnish language, the catalogue comprises 72 pages with text by Tove… Leer más

First American edition, presumed first printing. A Studio Book. by Viking Press. Text in English translated from the French. This massive book includes a map of Lautrec's Paris, a catalogue of his graphic works and a chronology of his life and work. Many magnificent full page color reproductions as well as paste-on reproductions and b&w photos. no pages or illustrations, photos, etc. are missing.Book is in excellent condition. Only faults we could find in book are some shelf wear/white spotting at bottom edge of the back cover, a small (about 1/8") stain at top of spine extending about one inch from the spine at the top of the pages; however, the stain is only visible on the top edges of the pages when the book is closed. It does not show on the pages themselves. The Dj is whole but shows its age with some light stains and wear marks on front cover and shelf wear at edges including some small tears and chipping at bottom of spine are.
