Neat early MS note in Latin on flyleaf about placing of 2 plates.The plates sometimes back to back with some show-through, sometimes ex collation sometimes within count, numbers don't run consectutively. Eight leaves have neat minor marginalia, last 4 index leaves with worm hole affecting a few letters & a few others with marginal worm holes not touching text, some gatherings browned, tide marks from old dampness leaving residual ring marks, mostly marginal and those that intrude into the printed area don't hinder legibility. Pages throughout entirely uncut with good big margins and the paper strong and supple. This edition contains the Analecta and de Lucernis Sepulchralibus for the first time - there are thus 4 full titlepages. *The earliest major work on costumes and clothing of the Greeks and Romans, using statuary and classical written descriptions as source. The first volume was published in 1642, this edition is the first containing all Ferrari's works on this subject. The Analecta contains answers to a related work by Albert Rubens, son of the painter.
