Millbrook, NY: No Publisher SCARCE. No date, circa 1907-1910. Five sepia toned original photographic postcards of the Bennett College for Girls in Millbank, Dutchess County, New York, a school founded in 1890 in Irvington, New York which moved to this location in 1907. Its main building, Halcyon Hall, was built in 1893 by H. J. Davison Jr., a publisher from New York. Designed by James A. Ware, it was meant to be a luxury hotel, but the hotel never caught on. It served as a school into the late1970's, and today lies in a state of disrepair. Near Fine, the cards curled. Four of the cards are 9 1/2" w x 3 1/2" h, the last 8 3/4" w x 3 1/2" h. . Postcard. Near Fine. Various .

Descripción:
Routledge, 1990. 8vo size trade paperback; 390 pages including index From back: "This is a unique study, continuing the work of Merleau-Ponty and Heidegger, and using the techniques of phenomenology against the prevailing nihilism of our culture. It expands our understanding of the human potential for spiritual self-realization by interpreting it as the developing of a bodily-felt awareness informing our gestures and movements. The author argues that a psychological focus on our experiences of well-being and pathology as embodied beings contribute significantly to a historically relevant critique of idealogy. It also provides an essential touchstone in experience for a fruitful individual and collective response to the dangers of nihilism." Edgewear, moderate wear to covers with sunned spine; marginalia, underlining and very light highlighting on least 58 pages prior to page 107; two previously folded page corners, some stray ink marks on outside pages.
