This is an early edition of 'The Red Fairy Book', edited by Andrew Lang. Multiple in color unique illustrations by Gustaf Tenggren. In good condition considering age, with some property markings and a check-out card on the back cover.
Wear on both edges of spine, picture pasted to front cover. Interior is nice and clean. Top of text block is red. Some browning to the other two edges of the text block. Covers are attached to text block.
This would make and incredible, unique addition to nearly every book collectors home library. Filled with classic favorites, and maybe a few forgotten tales.
Sinopsis
The Fairy Books, or "Coloured" Fairy Books is a collection of fairy tales divided into twelve books, each associated with a different colour. Collected together by Andrew Land they are sourced from a number of different countries and were translated by Lang's wife and other translators who also retold many of the tales. The collection has been incalculably important and, although he did not source the stories himself direct from the oral tradition he can make claim to the first English translation of many.First published in 1890, The Red Fairy Bookis the 2nd volume in this series.
