New York: Exposition Press, 1978. Signed and inscribed by author 8vo size hardcover with dust jacket; 39 pages to this slim, red cloth covered volume with black and white drawings by Larry Sherman. Sherman's drawings were adapted from sketches by Charlotte Durante, Art Teacher, Cleveland Board of Education. Inscribed to the author's grandchildren and signed on fep. From jacket: "It tells the story of a young man who is the son of a former slave. It tells about life in the rural South. It tells about a young boy going out to seek his fortune, alone in the world." Penciled notation and price on fep. Wrinkle on inside on back cover. Small spot on rear endpage with resulting light transfer to inside back cover and preceding page. Jacket has wear, edgewear and rubbing with some minor chipping to head of spine. There is a small stain on inside of back jacket flap and a stain on back cover of jacket and there is a piece of brown paper partly obscuring the author's photo.
