Dark red coloured tint to the top text edge. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with black and red coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Black and white illustration of author you dustwrapper panel. "This tale belongs in the 1930s. It makes no mention of war rumours of war. It tells of a fellow's decision to take an honest man's life, and of the latter's acceptance of the challenge, of the issue of the conflict which ensues and the great love of a lady for a husband that is not hers. -- rear panel blurb. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with rubbing of the top book corners and lower book edges. Tanning and foxing to the text block edges and light tanning of the pages. Offset tanning to the end pages along with foxing. Gift inscription to the top edge of the free front end page. Bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand of the front paste -down. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. Creasing of the dustwrapper edges with sunning of the back strip and a little to the rear panel. Foxing spots and marks are also present and colour illustration is somewhat faded. A little browning and foxing to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 256 pages..
