Tall octavo, first illustrated edition (preceded by a 1937 Covici-Friede edition), pp. 131, 1 (ad), tan and blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and picture of a horse mounted on front, all edges tinted blue, slipcase lacking, bookplate on front pastedown, illustrations by Wesley Dennis. Of the two variations of this edition, this is the one printed by the Zeese-Wilkinson Co. A California-based Old West tale for older children. Condition of this book: A few minor stains to covers, clean and tight, leaves age toning. First Illustrated Edition, or first by this illustrator and in this format. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Sinopsis

"The Red Pony" is an episodic novella written by American writer John Steinbeck in 1933. The first three chapters were published in magazines from 1933–1936, and the full book was published in 1937 by Viking Penguin. The stories in the book are tales of a boy named Jody Tiflin. The book has four different stories about Jody and his life on his father's California ranch.
