A moving story about the author's mother who is diagnosed with ovarian cancer during the same year that the Great Salt Lake rose to record heights, threatening to destroy the fragile wetlands in the surrounding area. She writes about the loss that accompanies both of these devastating events.

Signed by Terry Tempest Williams on the title page. Additionally warmly inscribed by the author on the half title to Earth First! founder Ron Kezar. Earth First! was founded in the spring of 1980 and leapt to the national stage with their "cracking" of Glen Canyon Dam in the spring of 1982. An important association copy.
