Slight bumping to corners. Minor rubbing. Volume 2: Front board detached. Rear board loose. Bumping to corners. Minor rubbing. Scuffing to spine ends. Volume 3: Both boards reaffixed. Slight bumping. Rubbing to spine, edges. Light library markings and stamps on title pages. Light notation on ffep of Volume 1. Otherwise, clean, unmarked pages throughout. Presumably retrieved from the personal library of Lewis Carroll.<br><br>A ballad entitled George Barnwell and paged [225]-[240] inserted between pages 224 and 225 in v.3. Imperfect: v.1, front. (portrait), p. 337-338 and 343-344 wanting; v.2, half-title; v.3, half-title, p.67-68 and 75-80, wanting. Pages 205-206, v.2, and 5-6, 103-104, v.3, seem to have been supplied.<br><br>Written about the middle of the last century, this set contains compositions of all times and dates, from the ages prior to Chaucer, to the conclusion of the reign of Charles I.<br><br>An attractively rebound set.
