Very Near Fine in Very Near Fine DJ: Both book and DJ show only minute indications of use. The Book shows the very slightest lean to the spine, which remains perfectly secure; a small, rather faint smudge to the rear free endpaper; else flawless; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome, nearly-new copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing a couple of unobtrusive imperfections. Bright, Crisp and Clean. Corners sharp. Very close to 'As New'. The DJ shows only a hint of crimp to the paper at the head of the backstrip; else flawless; unclipped. Very close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9.8 x 6.3 x 0.55 inches). 63 pages. Profusely illustrated with duotone photographs by Myron Wood. Language: English. Weight: 14.5 ounces. Brown cloth over boards with silver titles at the front panel and backstrip. Dustwrapper depicts O'Keeffe at work in one of Myron Wood's exquisite duotone photographs. Hardback with DJ. In 1977 Margaret Wood was a twenty-four-year-old living an ordinary life in Lincoln, Nebraska. That year her life changed when she went to Abiquiu, a remote village in northern New Mexico, where she began a five-year stay as companion and caretaker to then eighty-nine-year-old Georgia OKeeffe. Wood and OKeeffe often walked the red hills of Ghost Ranch in early evenings, the place where the artist experienced true freedom. The artist had a reputation of living a secluded life but in fact enjoyed welcoming a host of visitors to her home. Wood shares anecdotes about these social exchanges, along with a treasure trove of stories intimately shared. When Wood's father-the photographer Myron Wood-came to visit, he asked for and received permission to photograph OKeeffe. A dozen of these historic images, published a decade later in the seminal publication, OKeeffes Abiquiu, are reproduced to complement Margaret Woods quiet insights of life spent with OKeeffe.
