Boutwell served as Governor of Massachusetts (1851-52), Representative in Congress (1863-69), Secretary of the Treasury (1869-73), and Senator from Massachusetts (1873-77), among other positions. Antique ex-library, bearing the hand-numbered and hand-dated bookplate from one of the USA's oldest institutions. No pockets. Very good in green silk binding..
