Sobre este artículo

New York: S. Whiting & Co, 1811. First edition. Hardcover. Early 19th century half brown calf and marbled boards. Good. 21.5 x 13 cm. Two copies of this rare pamphlet. Hamilton's proposal for a national bank. This controversial proposed financial measure was accepted only after much debate on its constitutionality and in spite of stiff opposition by Jefferson and others. The Bank was run capably throughout its 20 year charter and was instrumental in managing the critical issue of public debt. Despite Secretary Gallatin's strong support, the charter was not renewed, with serious consequences for the country. Evans 22998. American Imprints 24307. Bound in Sammalband of several works as follows: Life of Bounaparte 1814 (OCLC: 30702635), title page mostly missing. A Sermon Occasioned by the Death of the late Rev. Dr. John N. Abeel by Alexander Gunn 1812. The Unity of God. 1813. The Connecticut Evangelical Magazine, January, 1805. An Appeal to the Head and Heart of Every Man and Woman in Great Britain respecting the threatened French invasion, and the importance of immediately coming forward with voluntary contributions. 1798. Boston A Poem by Winthrop Sargent. 1803. Binding worn, soiled, first several leaves dampstained not affecting the Hamilton pamphlets.
