Geological reconnoissances in California; Sacramento Valley from the American River to Butte Creek; Sketch of the route of Capt. Warner's exploring party in the Sacramento Valley & Sierra Nevada. Wheat, Gold Rush 212, "of considerable value." Howes T455 aa. Based on four month visit to California, the first real scientific study to come out of the gold rush. The maps are the first to pinpoint the gold discoveries. Part I, 127 pp. with ten maps, plates. Part II, 37 pp. with three maps. Disbound government document. Residue from book binding remains on spine edge, string bindling visable, creased spine. First page is starting to separate from rest of document. Very mild foxing and tanning to the document, some page edges are chipped and few corners creased. Maps/plates have uncut edges with some chipping, foxing spots, heavy creasing, few small tears. Plate VI was cut incorrectly by publisher, top of plate appears at bottom. Document in Good+ to VG- condition.. First Edition. Paperbound. Very Good-. Illus. by Maps, Plates .
