Sobre este artículo
Plymouth, Mass: Avery & Doten, Steam Book and Job Printers, 1878. Paperback. Very Good. 40 p.; 22 cm. Plain wrapper with wrapper title in black within decorative border. Former owner's name at upper edge of front wrapper: "H. Holmes." Halifax, Mass., was incorporated in 1734. This annual report contains fascinating detailed information about the village in 1877 and 1878, including expenses for roads, schoolhouses, and the maintenance of paupers. Also included are marriages and deaths registered; the number of births and licensed dogs; and a lengthy and amusing report on recent changes in the Halifax schools by Nathaniel Morton, Charles H. Paine, and George H. Watson. The former owner, H. Holmes, may have been Howland Holmes (d. 1894), a doctor in Lexington, who grew up in Halifax and established a public library there, which opened in 1877 and is still known as the Holmes Public Library. In Very Good Condition: wrapper is lightly soiled; minor loss at lower corners of front wrapper and fore-edges of front wrapper and first few pages; otherwise, clean and solid.
