The Republic of the Rio Grande had a brief and tenuous exisence (1838-1840) before most of it was reabsorbed by Mexico and the remainder annexed by the U.S. The northeastern Mexican states of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas and present day South Texas. First major work on this little known chapter in Texas history.
