In full contemporary speckled calf (worn with loss to extremities, hinges cracked but secure), flat spines divided by gilt double fillets into six compartments, gilt-lettered spine labels in second compartments (but labels to vol.1 missing and partially absent to vols.2 and 4), volume number labels missing from fourth compartments, ink ownership inscriptions to free free endpapers, marginal wormtrack to first 50pp of vol.2 not affecting text, otherwise a sound complete set with a number of attractive engraved portraits. In Very Good- Condition: modern binding clean and bright; frontispiece, title page, and several following leaves have old stain; archival repair of loss in lower part of title page (no loss of printing); some foxing on folded plates; otherwise, clean and tight.

Photographs are reproduced by sheet-fed gravure with additional halftone colors. 8 sections of photographs total: Brothers, Matt Dillon, Notebook, Lifeguards, Clammers, Hall of Fame, Jeff, and On Leave in Waikiki. The Hall of Fame section are photographs taken at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, FL. No previous owners' names or other markings. Pages bright and clean.
