Contemporary half morocco over marbled boards. Spine with five raised bands and gilt title. First and last printed wrappers bound in. A massive report on the importance and availability of economically and geopolitically important minerals and energy sources, addressed to the President of the United States, Harry S. Truman, including a printed letter by him. The work deals with challenges and opportunities that are still vaild today - if not more than ever, and that may be contrasted with the current situation. The report consists of five parts or "Volumes", viz., I. Foundations for growth and security; II. The outlook for key commodities; III. The outlook for energy sources; IV. The promise of technology; V. Selected reports of the commission. It is quite unusual to see this work neatly bound and well-preserved, such as this copy.
