Harald Reinl tackles the enigmatic Dr. Mabuse from Fritz Lang's trilogy of Dr. Mabuse titles: "Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler" (1922), "The Testament of Dr. Mabuse" (1933) and "The 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse" (1960).
Criminal mastermind Dr. Mabuse (Wolfgang Priess) brainwashes prison inmates to commit crimes as he is pursued by Inspector Lohmann (Gert Frobe) and the German police. Gert Frobe would gain worldwide fame 2 years later in the role of Auric Goldfinger in the 1964 James Bond classic "Goldfinger."
Set in and shot on location in Berlin.
