Sobre este artículo
The Peregrine Fund, 2003. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Association copy: While the book is not signed directly, laid in is a signed note (ALS) on Peregrine Fund (Boise, ID) stationary from co-editor William Burnham: "Dear Charley, We hope you like the book. Thank you for contributing to its writing. We are pleased with how it turned out. It tells a great story. Best wishes, Bill Burnham." Based on the list of contributors, this copy belonged to Charles F. Wurster, who helped lead the battle to ban DDT and then co-founded the Environmental Defense Fund (his obit in WaPo is well worth reading). In this volume, he contributed to the introduction, "The Madison Peregrine Conference and the Struggle to Ban DDT." A very nice association between important bird protectors and conservationists. Quarter, a large coffee-table book rich with color photos; fine book in a near fine jacket with slight curling and wear to edges Also laid in is a brochure advertisement for the book and a newspaper clipping related to peregrines. // Wood (+) River (=) Books specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, and environmental literature, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions.

Sobre Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
