Sobre este artículo

Mineola, New York: Dover Publications, Inc, 2004. Dover Reprint . Trade Paperback. Fine. 8 1/2" X 11. 110 Pages. There is a small label for previous owner's name and underneath in red ink is the date "Jun 07". No other marks noted. This refreshing and delightfully written book underscores the important role that wood has played in the development of American life and culture. Charmingly illustrated with author Eric Sloane's own sketches, the text illuminates with rare insight the enormously varied and useful qualities of wood. Covering such topics as the aesthetics of wood, wooden implements, and carpentry, Sloane remarks expansively and with affection on the resourcefulness of early Americans in their use of this precious commodity. From cradle to coffin, the pioneer was surrounded by wood. It was used to make tools, fence the land, and build barns. People sat at wooden tables on wooden chairs and ate from wooden dishes. Charcoal, one of the many by-products of wood, was used to preserve meat, remove offensive odors, and produce ink. The bark of various trees was processed to make medicine. An entertaining, factual, and historically accurate book.

Reseñas

El Mar 6 2022, un lector dijo:
I am already desperate to have this book and I've never seen it. My friend has raved about it having carried it in his backpack wherever he was wherever he went and used to make notes in it it was basically his obsession he's a total geek on many topics and this is one of his favorites. He can't say enough good things about it. I for one happened to love anything hard and wood, so I'm sure you can imagine I'd love to actually get my grubby hands on it to have and hold
