(Sacramento): State of California, 1897. Soft cover. Near Fine. Original large, previously folded $500 reward poster issued by Gov. James H. Budd on January 26, 1897, for apprehension of "some person or persons unknown" for the murder of Jesse Robert Sweet on October 4, 1895, "while driving a team from Lake City to Bidwell..." "Attest: L. H. Brown, Secretary of State." Size almost exactly 14" x 9 1/2". Slight split at each side of main horizontal fold and with crease at the fold; mild crease to further fold in thirds. Rare and desirable.
