Fourth book of poetry by the English-Scot Canadian immigrant writer/poet who was often called "the bard of the Yukon" in his day (1974-1958). A FIRST EDITION, first printing from 1916, this small hardback with green cloth-covered boards & gilt lettering & design to cover & spine is in solidly Good condition: generally very clean, binding strong & straight, though stitching is loosening from the first signature. Pages modestly tanned, commensurate with age. Flaws: heavy bumping & fraying to both ends of spine & some corners. Stain of unknown origin to lower front board, wrapping around to spine. Former owner's name in pen on ffep; NO other writing or underlining or highlighting not ex-lib. No DJ. Sinopsis

Originally published in 1916, Rhymes Of A Red Cross Man is a collec tion of poems based on Robert Service’s experience driving a Red Cross ambulance in France during World War I. Some selections include "The Fool," "Our Hero," "My Mate," "The Convalescent," "Wounded," "The Man From Athabaska," "Carry On," "Bill the Bomber,"  "The Odyssey of ’Erbert ’Iggins," and "The Stretcher Bearer."
