Budapesten: A. M. T. Akademia Tamogatasaval, 1885. HB. Brown cloth, gilt lettering on spine, 8 vo, 190 pp. Classic work by Pikler (1864-1937), one of the leading figures in the formulation of Hungarian sociology, analysing the theories of British political economist David Ricardo. English translation of the title of this book would be "Ricardo: His Importance in the History of Economics. His Theory on Value and Distribution." In this work Pikler outlines his theory of "individual choice" that he would later develop further in his work on the Origins and Evolution of Law. In 1906 Pikler became president of the Society of Social Sciences. Private bookplate on front paste-down, no marks in book, binding tight. Book has two full title pages with different publishers listed, with the first detached but present. First 2 pages have corners lacking at top, not affecting text. A scarce work, text in Hungarian. Book condition VG-.
