Sobre este artículo

No place [Columbia, South Carolina]: no publisher [the author ?], no date [1973 ?]. First edition, this copy signed in ink by Devereux at the ffep. Octavo (9.25" x 6.25"), viii & 125 pages, illustrated. Original tan cloth lettered & decorated in black in dust jacket which replicates the binding.

A fine copy in very good price-clipped dust jacket, moderately browned at the spine, toned & soiled, with brief edge wear including a tiny loss at the top of the spine & a short closed tear.

This issue with no publishing information which we believe precedes the edition published by the State Printing Company of Columbia, S.C. in 1973.

"My aim is to write a biography of two owners of Hagley Plantation in Georgetown County ... I will mainly put into this writing facts that are illustrative of the strengths and weaknesses of a great antebellum Southern agrarian civilization ..." ~Excerpted from the author's preface.
