Sobre este artículo

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2008. First Edition [stated], presumed first printing. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. [10], 388, [2] pages. Source Notes. Index. Inscribed by author on title page. Arianna Huffington (née Stasinopoúlou; born July 15, 1950) is a Greek American author, syndicated columnist, and businesswoman. Huffington was the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, which is now owned by AOL. She was a popular conservative commentator in the mid-1990s, after which, in the late-1990s, she offered liberal points of view in public, while remaining involved in business endeavors. In 2003, she ran as an independent candidate for governor in the California recall election and lost. As of 2014, she is listed by Forbes as the 52nd Most Powerful Woman in the World. In 2011, AOL acquired The Huffington Post for US$315 million, and made Huffington the President and Editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group, which included The Huffington Post and then-existing AOL properties including AOL Music, Engadget, Patch Media, and StyleList. On August 11, 2016, it was announced that she would step down from her role at The Huffington Post to devote her time to a new startup, Thrive Global, focused on health and wellness information. Derived from a Kirkus review: Noted conservative doyenne turned noted liberal doyenne Huffington enumerates all the ways in which the GOP has gone astray. The liberal convictions that followed seem of a piece with the progressivism of her moderate Republican ways, and indeed most of her notions are centrist: her belief, for instance, that ending poverty will call for a combination of public and private effort, and that the government has no business in the bedrooms of consenting adults. Like so many of the time, she has a soft spot in her heart for Ronald Reagan, who opened the door for what she characterizes as the right-wing takeover of the party by the likes of Bush and Cheney-and Coulter, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and company-as the radical fringe became the radical core. Huffington chastises the media for allowing this rightist cabal to proceed unchallenged, a charge that sticks but needs more elaboration than she provides. Elsewhere she walks down any number of well-trod paths: the lies about WMDs and the Freudian reasons for toppling Saddam, the right wing's war on science, the abuse of the Constitution, the quest for saviors in the form of General David Petraeus, the contempt for expertise.
