Sobre este artículo

Chicago: Ivan R. Dee, 2006. First Edition. Signed and inscribed by the author Budd Schulberg to journalist Sander Vanocur: “For my dear friend Sandy V, Over all these years with abiding admiration and affection. Budd S. 2/3/07”. Illustrated, 364 pages. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Budd Schulberg (1914 - 2009) was the acclaimed novelist and screenwriter who won an Oscar in 1955 for his screenplay On the Waterfront, and also wrote such works as What Makes Sammy Run?, The Harder They Fall, A Face in the Crowd, etc. He was a part of the historic ‘anti-Communist’ House Un-American Activities Committee proceedings in 1951, when screenwriter Richard Collins’ testimony named him as a former member of the Communist Party, after which Schulberg volunteered to testify and appear as a friendly witness. Sander Vanocur (1928 - 2019) was an American television journalist who served as White House correspondent and national political correspondent for NBC News in the 1960s and early 1970s. He was one of the questioners at the first of the Kennedy - Nixon presidential debates in 1960. In 1968, Vanocur covered Robert F. Kennedy’s campaign for the Presidency. At the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, Vanocur and Roger Mudd interviewed RFK back to back, just minutes before he was shot by Sirhan Sirhan.
