The Book is flawless; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing very mild wear only. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. Virtually'As New'. The Acetate DJ is quite fresh and clean, but shows a one inch tear at the top of the front hinge and across the head of the backstip; else flawless. The Slipcase shows moderate rubbing to the colorful paste-down illustrated front panel and backstrip; a small stain near the heel of the backstrip; the rear corner of the backstrip is starting along the 'hinge'; remains clean and intact, but shows some wear. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Large 4to. (11.65 x 9 x 1.3 inches). 380 pages. Profusely llustrated with 524 vintage duotone Photographs of Charles M. Clegg and the author and also with four original Oil Paintings, presumably by Howard Fogg. Three maps. Fold-out map in rear pocket. Includes a table of miles of line for three gauges (narrow, standard and three rail) from 1872-1920, year by year outline from 1870 to 1954. Language: English. Weight: 68 ounces. Decorated Endpapers.
