Sobre este artículo

London: S. O. Beeton, 1859. Hardback. Good. 9.5" by 6" . None . Early edition of Motley's history of the rise of the Dutch Republic. In Beeton's Historian. John Lothrop Motley's history of the rise of the Dutch Republic, originally published in 1855. An early edition complete in one volume. The Dutch Republic was a federal republic that existed between 1588 to 1795. It was the first fully independent Dutch nation state, and was established after an uprising against the Spanish rule in the Netherlands by the provinces of Groningen, Frisia, Overijssel, Guelders, Utrecht, Holland, and Zeeland (the 'Union of Utrecht'). John L. Motley was an American author, best known for his historiographical works on the Netherlands. Rebound in half straight up grain morocco binding over marbled boards, with marbled endpapers. Externally sound with shelf wear, rubbed to joints, boards, and extremities, with light occasional chipping. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally very clean with a touch of age toning, as usual with the type of paper used. Good
