On the Riverworld, every human who ever lived and died is resurrected on the banks of a seemingly endless river on an unknown planet. River of Eternity was originally written for a novel writing contest hosted by Shasta Publishers which Farmer won, but never received the prize money for and the manuscript was believed lost entirely until a copy of the manuscript was rediscovered in 1983 and published in this edition by Phantasia Press.
