The Road, A Review of Railways, Iron Arts and the Coal Trade, 48 issues bound in one volume, New York and Philadelphia: T.S. Fernon, 1875-76. Quarto, pp. 384; 384, maroon cloth covers with gilt lettering and a library sticker to spine, blind-stamped devices on front and back, ex-library markings on front pastedown and title page. Complete run for two years. Although this biweekly was oriented to investors in railways and associated businesses, it was a bit like the Wall Street Journal in that it covered a wider range of subjects, including New York City housing and the Centennial. Held by many institutional libraries but scarce in the marketplace. Condition of this book: Covers worn at extremities, a few blemishes, 3-inch split in rear joint. Overall good and sound. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
