It provides a first-hand account of how it was to grow up in the little Western town, from lying in the sand teasing "doodlebugs" to fleeing from a gunfight on Main Street. Kurt Vonnegut has written a foreword noting it is a book by his first cousin, who's father left Indianapolis 80 years prior to discover the West though with some disappointments. A marvelous copy of a hand drawn map of Scottsdale in 1936 with Brown's Ice House and Hay Barn which along with Hammond-McFarlan's Lumber Yard were the largest businesses in downtown Scottsdale. Profusely illustrated with early pictures of Scottsdale. A fine copy of an important work on early Scottsdale.
