Sobre este artículo

This book is in very good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, edges, and spine of the cover boards. The last 60 pages and the back cover board have sustained some water damage. The damage is located on the lower left hand corner of the bottom of the pages. There is no bumping or fraying on the cover boards. There is little to no yellowing and no tanning of the pages. Also, the pages are clear of any markings.

"Roanoke Island, North America - July 1587. A mystery is unfolding. One hundred and seventeen people have landed on a remote island off the North American coast. The men, women, and children sent out by Sir Walter Raleigh, are the first English colonists in America. Despite the care taken for their safety, the explicit instructions, the plans for provisions, all will vanish. The only known survivor will be their Governor, John White - an artist and veteran of Raleigh's previous Roanoke expeditions. He had known, from the moment they landed, that they could not survive on Roanoke Island...." - Chapter One from Roanoke: Solving the Mystery of the Lost Colony

Sinopsis

In November of 1587, a report reached London claiming Sir Walter Raleigh's expedition to land English settlers in America had foundered. The colony on Roanoke Island off of the coast of North Carolina-115 men, women, and children-had disappeared without a trace. For four hundred years, the question of what became of the doomed settlers has remained unanswered. Where did they go? What really happened? Why were they on Roanoke Island in the first place, as that was not their destination? Using her consummate skills as an anthropologist and ethnohistorian, Lee Miller casts new light on the previously inexplicable puzzle of Roanoke, unraveling a thrilling web of deceit that can be traced back to the inner circle of Queen Elizabeth's government to finally solve the lasting mystery of the Lost Colony.
