Her father, James Y Simpson, was an obstetrician who pioneered the use of chloroform as an anaesthetic. ** Contains a description on Stevenson's appearance - his father "begged [him]... to go to his tailor's, for he disapproved of the youth's scruffy, mountbankish appearance". An interesting book for the description of Stevenson's reactions to the world in his travels at at home in Scotland.. Hard Cover. Very Good.
