First hardcover edition of one of John D. MacDonald’s early science fiction stories on computing and artificial intelligence, “Mechanical Answer,” first published in Astounding Science Fiction (1948). This anthology also includes stories by Lester del Rey, Joseph E. Kelleam, A.E. van Vogt, John Browning, Lewis Padgett, and others.
