Sobre este artículo
Rochester & Chicago: Briggs & Brother, 1876. Paperback. Near Fine. This January 1876 number offers a great display of the engravers and printers art, with their credit "Lockhart SC" & "Leadly SC" in the lower hashmarked margin of the front cover and [printed by] "Daily Democrat and Chronicle Print, Rochester, N.Y." at lower edge of inside back cover. This number, in addition to being their last quarterly issue, was also thoughtfully published as an aid to help gardeners choose their plantings for celebrating America's 100th Independence Day - see introduction on p. 1. String sewn, printed paper wraps, 8vo (9.25 inches tall), pp. 88, engraved tear-out order sheet still bound in at front, nicely illustrated with engravings of flowers, vegetables, vines, bulbs, roots and greenhouse culture, decorative headpieces throughout and a table of contents on verso of terminal leaf. Volume w. minor creasing, scant traces of soil, toning and a few tiny closed tears, spine panel with some cracks and a half-inch piece from foot, else a wonderful copy, complete as issued. A book format of their seed catalogue was planned for publication in May, 1876 as they moved away from these more ephemeral, quarterly issues.
