First published in Edinburgh in 1791, this work by Adam (1741-1809) called "A very useful and much esteemed work..." by William Lowndes in his "A Bibliographer's Manual" for this American edition (see "American Imprints", 1833, no p. 17238) Professor of Italian Literature at the University of the City of New York Lorenzo Da Poute (1749-1838) made addions to the work. Da Poute is remembered as librettist for 3 of Mozart's most popular operas.

Good clean tight text throughout BUT noticeable spotting at the beginning and end of the book. Pages are undulated possibly due to damp storage. Text edges dust darkened and a bit marked. Covers a bit rubbed and top and base of spine frayed.. Eighth Edition. Hardback. G++/No DW.
