Volume Three (Summer) only of 'The Roman Breviary: Reformed by Order of the Holy Oecuminical Council of Trent; Published by Order of Pope St Pius V.; and Revised by Clement VIII., Urban VIII., and Leo XIII Together with Offices since Granted and The Martyrology. Translated out of Latin into English by John, Marquess of Bute, K.T. A New Edition for Use in England.'. A crisp copy of a scarce volume. Complete sets of this edition, originally published in 1879, are indeed rare. John Patrick Crichton-Stuart (1847-1900), Marquess of Bute, Knight of the Thistle, Knight Grand Cross of St. Gregory and of the Holy Sepulchre, was an humble & devout Scottish recusant aristocrat, scholar, and philanthropist (The Catholic Encyclopedia).
