Blue-green cloth, gilt decorated front cover, w/ colour plate mounted, gilt lettering on spine, illustrated map endpapers, t.e.g. (slight shelfwear, front inner hinge just starting), still VG copy, from the library of Donald Alexander Skene (1898-1938), reporter for the Portland Oregonian, served as a United States Marine during World War I, and graduated Yale University in 1920, w/ bookseller’s label for Paul Elder, San Francisco on rear flyleaf. First edition of this wonderfully illustrated work by Peixotto, of his travels through the Redwoods, Sonoma, San Francisco, Monterey, San Juan Bautista, down the El Camino Real through Los Angeles, to San Diego.
