London: Methuen & Co., Ltd, 1951. Softcover. Fine/Fine. First edition. Fine in fine dust jacket with a tiny nick. Inscribed by Lewis on the front free endpaper: "To David Kahma greetings W.L." Lewis engaged in an extensive correspondence with the young Canadian David Kahama, undertaking his education of a writer, as a remarkable series of letters to Kahma illustrates. The correspondence begins towards the middle of 1942 with a proposal by Kahma, a young British Columbian, that Lewis become the first star of an arts centre he hopes to establish in Vancouver, and it runs its dramatic course till the end of the year. An important association in a beautiful copy of the book.
