Minimal foxing and tanning to endpapers and page edges. Previous owner's inscription to front endpaper. Some gutter cracking. Pages are rough cut. Mild wear and bumping to spine, board edges and corners, with tanning to spine and board edges. Minor scuffing and soiling to boards.

Privately Published, advertisement at rear by J & J Leighton (publishers), London, 1852. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Bound in brown blind-printed covers with gilt lettering on the spine, covers are lightly rubbed. Binding is sound. End-papers are lightly foxed, some plates have a short crease across a corner and there is occasional light marginal foxing. Contents include "Hints For Some Further Improvement in the Metropolis" published in London in 1831 which contains 17 plates and added in 1852 various printed letters and other printed documents including an additional 7 plates. Plates, letters and documents are of various sizes. Many plates are double or fold-out, one is in colour and two have flaps. No dust jacket, as published. Undated by publisher. Dublin: At the Sign of the Three Candles, 1934. Wilbraham Fitzjohn Trench (1873-1939) gave this Memorial Discourse on the occasion of the 100th anniverary of the completion of Thomas Moore's "Melodies." Trench notes that Moore was more financially successful than Wordsworth. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition. Light gray paper-covered boards with green lettering and designs of Irish Muses on both front and back. Clean text; 47 pages. This copy has been INSCRIBED by the author on the FFEP. Laid-in is an interesting note from the author, noting that "I cannot think he got anything from his Gaelic." Also, laid in the rear endpapers is an advertising slip from the publisher. This is a rather lovely little book; a bit of tanning (1/4") to the top of the covers. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Inscribed By Author. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
