A handsome reprint edition of poems of Omar Khayyám, arranged in quatrains and rendered into English by Edward FitzGerald under the title "The Rubaiyat," which was FitzGerald's creation. Five "authorized" versions of the quatrains are included. This "Classics Club" book club edition with fancy calligraphy at beginnings of versions, and black & white facsimiles from the Bodleian manuscript of Omar Khayyám. Edited, with introduction and glossary by Gordon S. Haight. --- In full greenish-tan linen cloth, with red topstain and titling & decorations in gilt on red cover & spine blocks. Volume bears 1942 date but possibly published c.1960s-70s. --- An about Near Fine copy: bright, tightly-bound and lacking damages worthy of mention.; 12mo - 7 to 7-1/2 in. tall; (6), 178 pages .
