Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O blind stamp on the FFFP. Book Condition: Very Good +; light shelfwear to head, tail, tips, and board bottom edges. DJ: Very Good; NOT Price Clipped ($15.00); light wear to head, tail, and tips; several small closed tears; small missing piece at head. Black cloth boards and spine with gilt and copper lettering on the spine; gilt elephant on the front board. Clean internals. Interior hinges are sound and not split. 421 pp 8vo. This book was originally written in the 1940s and was based on th author's access to Kipling's letters, diaries, papers, and interviews with friends and family. When the first draft was shown to Kipling's Daughter (Elsie Bambridge), she refused permission to print it. The author updated his original draft over the years and after his death in 1975 and Elsie's in 1976, the draft was brought to light and printed. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
