Original maroon cloth covers, lower corner of both covers show evidence of exposure to moisture, with loss of color to both corners and along fore-edge of rear cover, pages are unaffected. Gilt is bright on front cover and spine, spine has minor scrape marks and is somewhat worn at extremities. Contents are excellent; binding is tight, square, pages clean and bright. Ownership stamp of former owner on first endpaper. . The American Railway Association was the major railroad association of the time, and eventually joined together with other rail organizations to become the Association of American Railroads in 1934. This a comprehensive set of rules and amendments agreed to May 20, 1914. Among the issues addressed by the rules are: automatic train control, detour agreement, diagrams providing various specifications, per diem rates, specs for rail sections, types A, B, and carbon steel, overhead crossings of electric light and power lines, air brakes and train air signals, block signals, car service, inspection and certification of box cars, interlocking, national car demurrage, physical and educational qualifications of employees, preservation of wrecked freight, transportation of explosives and other dangerous articles, storage, stowing of eggs, switching reclaim, track scale specs and rules, weighing and reweighing of freight, and much more. This is the original 1914 editioh, NOT a reprint. A solid copy of the first edition. . 8vo - 8" to 9" tall. 620 pages. F3 .
