Sobre este artículo

First monograph, containing a catalog of engravings for 1886-1921, on the Russian and Soviet graphic artist Ivan Pavlov (1872-1951), credited with turning engraving into a well-respected independent artistic medium in Russia. The collection was published on the 35th anniversary of his artistic activity, and includes an introductory essay by the art historian and archivist Vladimir Adariukov (1863-1932). Born in a village near Moscow, Pavlov eventually studied art in St. Petersburg. A master of realist landscape, with an eye for juxtaposing the old and the new in his urban landscapes, Pavlov taught at the Stroganov Academy of Arts and later at VKhUTEMAS in 1917-1922. He was also a member of AKhR (Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia) starting 1925, the artistic association most closely supported by the Soviet state. One of 5000 copies.
