Biniding has light wear and fading on spine, few soil marks to covers, scattered foxing to first few leaves of text, rear hinge is started, else a very good copy. Front panel of the dust jacket, which prints information about the book, has been tipped onto front pastedown, and four contemporary newspaper clippings, printing various reviews of the book (dated in 1916), have been tipped onto pages of publisher's ads, following the printed text [the acidic clippings are browned. with some offsetting]. First edition. pp. [vi], 310, (followed by ten pages of publisher's ads), illustrated (reproducing black-and-white photographs). INSCRIBED BY OLGA NOVIKOFF. Olga Novikoff (1840-1925) was a Russian aristocrat, journalist, and diplomat.

Inscribed, and signed, by Olga Novikoff, prior to publication: "To my great friend/ and 'helper in-deed'/ from grateful/ Olga Novikoff/ nee Kireeff/ O. K./ 17 October/ 1916/ 4 Brunswick Place/ Regent's Park. London" (filling the entire front flyleaf).
