New York: Produced and Released by Mainstream Magazine, [ca, 1947-8].. Original 12" 78 rpm double-sided phonograph record. Printed labels a trifle foxed, small blemish at extreme edge far from grooves, otherwise visually very good. A quite rare recording of Trumbo's recitation of his long poem, first published in the Winter 1947 (I:1) issue of MAINSTREAM. While OCLC includes a barebones entry for this recording (without citing locations), it refers to "Part 2" only, which is the flip side of the present record, and is somewhat contradictory, asserting there is "no linguistic content" and "unreadable" and that it is a "musical recording." New York: New York Committee for the General Strike for Peace, 1961-1963. A collection of nine rare leaflets and letters concerning the General Strike for Peace, which in the early 1960s sought a ban on the testing of nuclear weapons as well as global disarmament. This material belonged to Jackson Mac Low (1922-2004), poet, performance artist, and peace activist.Eight of these items were issued by the New York Committee for the General Strike for Peace, for which Mac Low was one of the organizers. (Julian Beck and Judith Malina of the Living Theatre were also organizers.) The collection also includes a letter from the Committee for Nonviolent Action. The General Strike for Peace consisted of three different phases, the first of which took place in early 1962, followed by additional calls to strike in November 1962 and then again in May 1963. Descripción:
This is complicated so bear with me. This is a sammelband (collection) of four titles from the publisher Muir. Listed in order of binding: First title "Life of Thomas Paine" (1833) is not attributed but appears to be abridged Sherwin's biography of Paine (See OCLC: 933006301). Second title "Rights of Man" (1833) requires no explanation. Next two titles written by Peter MacKenzie are rare and make up most of the value. Third title "Exposure of the Spy System" is the 1832 first edition of this work. Includes frontis of Hardie's grave. The fourth (final) title "Trial of James Wilson" is the 1832 first edition. The whole thing paginates: 48, viii, 104, [2], 242, 48. Bound in high quality quarter leather with marbled boards fine binding by Starr Bookworks. Defects are: page 21/22 of "Rights" has a repaired hole affecting a few words (see scan); list of Paine's works has some check marks; title page of "Spy" has small edge tear not affecting anything. Feel free to inquire. Please see scans of the book you…

Descripción:
1970 Guardian first American editions. Credited to author Baik Bong, the books are thought to be collectively written by the Chinese and North Korean governments.First published in the Korean language in 1968 and 1969. The English language translations were first published in 1969 and 1970, in Japan, under the Miraisha imprint.
The three books offered in this listing are first American editions, with US copyrights and Library of Congress catalog numbers. Kim's three volume biography was published and distributed worldwide under various imprints and languages, including French, Italian, Spanish, and Serbian. Presumably, this worldwide distribution was undertaken in support of "exporting revolution", a priority of the Chinese government in the 1960's and 1970's.
Condition of the three books and dust jackets is Very Good Plus. The books have sound bindings, complete and unmarked inside pages. The dust jackets show only light shelf wear, are not price clipped, and are protected in new mylar covers.
