Sobre este artículo

London: Bell and Daldy, 1867. Leather. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". Not Stated. An eclectic collection of poetry from notable writers, in Latin, Greek, German and Italian, with the English translations. The third edition of this work in a full calf binding, with pictorial gilt of King William's College, Isle of Man, to the front board, and the Isle of Man symbol to the rear board, and gilt detailing to the spine. Marbling to the end papers and edges. Prize bookplate of King William's College, Isle of Man, to the front paste down, dated 1873. Bookplate to the verso of the front free end paper. A collection of nature poems and sacred songs from a variety of poets, from ancient sources such as the Book of Isaiah and works from Lucretius, to the Romantic poets such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Lord Byron. The title of this collection takes its name from a poem by John Milton, whose poems are also featured in this work. The poems are written in Latin, German, Greek and Italian, with translations into English on the facing page. The introduction is written in Latin. In a full calf binding. Externally, fairly smart, though rubbed to the spine and extremities. Small losses to the leather to the front board. Gilt remains bright. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the first and last few pages. Very Good
